Music Ministry

Octavia Baptist Church has a diversified praise and worship service. It consists of a blend of hymns from the Baptist Hymnal and praise songs and choruses from our "Make A Joyful Noise" book. You can find all the songs and choruses in that book listed on our "Praise And Worship Index" page. Short mid files are attached to all songs to give an idea as to how the song actually sounds.

We have a worship team which leads the music at every Sunday morning service. In addition they are learning new praise and worship songs as well as hymns to introduce them to the congregation.

Other special music is presented from time to time by other talented individuals in our congregation. Brenda, Ruth, Gayle, and Betty are always a pleasure to hear, and Pattie, Peanut, and Janice have started doing some specials as well. Of course, we have some great soloists who will sing from time to time as well. Becky, Marvelle, Sarah, Lindsey and Bethany, Joan, and others will now and then present special music. We even get the choir together to sing a special on occasion. Choir practice has been one of the most difficult things to find time for, so we don't have regular choir presentations at this time. Perhaps someday we'll all slow down and the perfect practice time will present itself, but right now, that doesn't seem to be happening.

Our children's group is singing from their own "put together "praise and worship book. They chose the songs they wanted to have in it, and are doing some song-leading occasionally during the Sunday morning worship time.
